Four candidates named for dean of LC State’s CTE program

LEWISTON, Idaho – Four candidates have been named for the Lewis-Clark State College Career & Technical Education deanship.

LC State faculty and staff are invited to attend candidate presentations on “Designing a Sustainable CTE Growth Model: Students, Employers, and Community as Shared Stakeholders.” All presentations will take place on the LC State campus.

The candidates and presentation schedule are:

• Annaliese Baker: 4 p.m. Sept. 29, Library TCC
• Jared Berrett: 4 p.m. Sept. 30, Library TCC

Baker currently works as director of Walla Walla Community College’s Continuing and Community Education program, with more than 20 years of experience in postsecondary education spanning teaching, curriculum and program development, workforce education, and academic leadership. She has overseen continuing education programs, workforce training, and community education programs through her most recent leadership role. Baker earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in media and theatre arts from Montana State University; a Master of Fine Arts in theatre from University of California, Irvine; and a Master of Education in instructional Design from Western Governors University.

Bell currently serves as interim CTE assistant dean for Faculty and Academic Affairs at LC State. He is also an assistant professor of engineering technology. He serves on the SkillsUSA Idaho and Idaho CTE Foundation boards, and he’s an active member of the Idaho Manufacturing Alliance. Bell has more than 15 years of experience in business and higher education, where he’s helped build teams, develop talent, and create opportunities for students in the workforce. He has a Bachelor of Science (BS) in workplace training and leadership.

Berrett has more than 25 years of experience in education, where he’s taught a variety of technical subjects. He has helped develop and lead CTE programs at two regional universities, and he aims to find practical ways to overcome obstacles while supporting students and stakeholders. Berrett has a BS in technology education and psychology from Brigham Young University (BYU); a Master of Science in technology education from BYU; and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in educational psychology from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Cruthirds serves as director of Workforce Training and interim CTE assistant dean for Operations & External Relations at LC State. He has served in a variety of roles since joining LC State in 2012, including advisor, faculty member, faculty senator, and chair of the Professional Staff Organization. As director of Workforce Training, Cruthirds promotes the program throughout the region, recruiting students and partnerships for the institution. He has a BS in psychology from Lewis-Clark State College; Master of Public Administration from University of Idaho; Master of Psychology from Idaho State University (ISU); and a Ph.D. in experimental Psychology from ISU.
